12-Day Itinerary from Tangier to Marrakech

Day 1: Arrival in Tangier and Panoramic City Tour

Your 12-day tour from Tangier to Marrakech begins with a warm welcome from your Spanish-speaking driver/guide at the Tangier airport, port, or train station. Depending on your arrival time, we will enjoy a pleasant panoramic tour of the city to admire iconic spots such as Cape Spartel (where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea), the Hercules Caves, and the historic medina. Transfer to your hotel to rest. Accommodation with breakfast included.

Day 2: Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen, the Blue Pearl

After breakfast at the hotel, we will start our journey toward Tetouan, known as “The White Dove,” whose old town is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will continue ascending through the lush landscapes of the Rif Mountains until reaching Chefchaouen. You will have the rest of the day free to wander its charming blue-painted streets, take photos in its most photogenic corners, and unwind at Uta el-Hammam square. Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis Roman Ruins – Imperial City of Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, we will head south toward the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO-protected site where you can admire ancient arches and magnificent mosaics from the imperial era. We will proceed to Meknes, another of Morocco’s grand imperial cities, to visit its most outstanding landmarks, such as the grand Bab Mansour gate and El Hedim Square. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Fes, the spiritual capital of the country, to check into a traditional riad with breakfast included.

Day 4: Official Guided Tour of the Medieval Medina of Fes

We will dedicate the entire day to discovering the treasures of Fes alongside an official local guide. We will explore the labyrinthine alleyways of the medieval medina Fes el-Bali, admiring the architecture of Al Qarawiyyin University (the oldest in the world), the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, the famous Chouara Tanneries, and the vibrant artisan souks organized by guilds. After the guided tour, you will have free time. Accommodation in the same riad with breakfast.

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, we will begin our journey toward the Sahara, crossing the Middle Atlas mountain range. We will make a stop in Ifrane, nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and continue to the Azrou cedar forests to see wild Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. We will cross the picturesque town of Midelt and the lush palm groves of the Ziz Valley before reaching Erfoud and finally the golden dunes of Merzouga. At sunset, we will embark on a camel trek to watch the sun go down over the desert before arriving at our luxury camp. Traditional dinner and accommodation in luxury tents with private bathrooms under the stars.

Day 6: Complete 4×4 Exploration of the Merzouga Desert

We will wake up early to witness an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast at the camp, we will spend the day exploring the secrets of the desert aboard our 4×4 vehicle. We will visit nomad families to learn about their way of life while sharing traditional tea, pass through the village of Khamlia to enjoy a spiritual Gnawa music performance, and discover the region’s ancient mines and oases. In the afternoon, we will check into a hotel at the foot of the dunes. Dinner and breakfast included.

Day 7: Merzouga – Rissani Market – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the historic town of Rissani to explore its traditional regional market. We will continue toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, an imposing canyon with rock walls rising over 300 meters high—ideal for walking and taking photos. After lunch in the area, we will carry on along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs into the picturesque Dades Valley. Dinner and hotel accommodation with breakfast.

Day 8: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will travel through the Rose Valley and the Skoura palm grove to reach Ouarzazate, “the gateway to the desert.” We will visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, an impressive earthen fortress declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the backdrop for major film productions. Next, we will begin our ascent across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m) with scenic photo stops. Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon and accommodation in a traditional riad.

Day 9: Official Guided Tour of Marrakech’s Landmarks

Breakfast at the riad and meeting with your official guide for a comprehensive walking tour of the most iconic sites in the “Red City.” You will discover the majestic Koutoubia Mosque (exterior), the lavish Bahia Palace, the ancient medina, colorful artisan souks, and the legendary Jemaa el-Fna Square, bustling with energy and open-air performances. Free afternoon to shop for souvenirs or relax. Accommodation in the riad with breakfast.

Day 10: Marrakech – Excursion to the Coastal City of Essaouira

After breakfast, we will head west toward the Atlantic coast to reach the beautiful city of Essaouira (ancient Mogador). Famous for its traditional fishing harbor, fortified UNESCO-listed medina, and seaside ramparts, you will have the afternoon free to stroll through its tranquil white and blue streets, sample fresh seafood near the port, and enjoy the city’s artistic vibe. Hotel accommodation with breakfast.

Day 11: Essaouira – Return to Marrakech

Enjoy a delicious seaside breakfast and a free morning in Essaouira for relaxing beach walks or shopping for handcrafted Thuya wood items. In the afternoon, we will meet our driver for the return trip to Marrakech. Direct transfer to your traditional riad to enjoy your final night in the city. Accommodation with breakfast.

Day 12: Marrakech – Private Airport Transfer and End of Tour

Enjoy your final breakfast at the riad. At the agreed time based on your flight schedule, your private driver will pick you up at the entrance of your accommodation to comfortably transfer you to Marrakech Menara Airport, assisting you with your luggage.
