Three days is the classic length for a first trip to the Sahara. Our 3 day Sahara desert tours reach the high dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga, with a camel trek at sunset and a night in a desert camp. You can start in Marrakech or Fes, and finish where it suits your flights.
First, decide where you start. From Marrakech, you cross the High Atlas, visit Ait Ben Haddou and the Dades Valley, then reach the dunes on day 2. From Fes, the desert is closer, so you arrive on day 1 and have more time in the dunes. Then, decide where you end: a loop returns to your starting city, while a one-way tour finishes in the other city. However, the return day of a Marrakech loop is long, about 9 to 10 hours, so a one-way route is often more comfortable.
