Planning 2 weeks in Morocco? Two weeks is the best way to see the whole country without rushing: the Atlantic coast, the blue town of Chefchaouen, the medina of Fes, two nights in the Sahara, the kasbah road, Marrakech and the sea air of Essaouira. This guide shares a complete 14-day itinerary, alternative routes, driving times, the best season and practical tips.

Quick answer: a classic 2-week loop starts in Casablanca, heads north through Rabat, Asilah and Tangier to Chefchaouen and Fes, crosses the Middle Atlas to the Sahara, returns west along the kasbah road to Marrakech, and ends with two nights in Essaouira. As a result, you see every region of Morocco in one trip.

Is 2 Weeks in Morocco Enough?

Yes. Two weeks is the ideal length if you want to see Morocco properly. Compared with 10 days, you add the coast, a free day in Chefchaouen and a relaxing end in Essaouira. Moreover, you can sleep two nights in several places, so the trip feels like a holiday and not a race.

Other Ways to Spend 2 Weeks in Morocco

A loop from Tangier

If you arrive by ferry, start in Tangier and follow the same loop: Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara, Marrakech, Essaouira, and back north along the coast through Casablanca, Rabat and Asilah. Read our guide from Tangier to Marrakech for the ferry ports.

Slow travel from Marrakech

On the other hand, if you prefer fewer hotel changes, base yourself in Marrakech for a few nights, take a 4-day desert loop, then continue to Fes and Chefchaouen by road and fly home from Fes or Tangier.

Add the mountains

Finally, nature lovers can add two nights in the High Atlas, for example in the Imlil valley, for easy hikes in Berber villages.

How Much Driving Is 2 Weeks in Morocco?

Expect about 2,000 to 2,300 km in total. Most days have 3 to 4.5 hours of driving. However, the days between Fes and the Sahara and between the Dades Valley and Marrakech take 7 to 8 hours. In addition, four days have no long drive, so the trip stays relaxed.

Best Time for 2 Weeks in Morocco

Spring and autumn are the best seasons, with warm days and mild nights in every region. In summer, the south is very hot, but the coast and the north stay pleasant. In winter, the days are sunny, while the desert and the mountains are cold at night. See the best time to visit Morocco and our guide to Morocco in winter.

Getting Around and Where to Stay

A private driver is the easiest option, because the desert is far from the trains. Still, you can use the fast train between Tangier, Rabat and Casablanca. For hotels, choose riads in Fes, Chefchaouen and Marrakech, a kasbah hotel in the Dades Valley, a camp with private bathrooms in the desert, and a sea-view riad in Essaouira. Read our guide from Marrakech to Essaouira for the coast.

2 Weeks in Morocco During Ramadan

If your trip falls during Ramadan, which in 2027 is expected from about 8 February to 8 March, most sights stay open, although some restaurants close during the day and opening hours change. However, the evenings are lively and festive. Read our guide to Ramadan in Morocco 2027.

What to Pack for 2 Weeks in Morocco

  • Light layers and a warm jacket for the desert and the mountains
  • A light rain jacket for the north in winter
  • Comfortable walking shoes for the medinas
  • A small overnight bag for the desert camp
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a reusable water bottle

For the full list, see what to pack for the Morocco desert.

A Typical Day on a 2-Week Trip

Most days follow an easy rhythm. First, breakfast on a riad terrace around 8 a.m. Then, two or three hours on the road, with photo stops and coffee in small towns. Next, a long lunch, often a tagine in a family restaurant. In the afternoon, you visit the highlight of the day, such as a kasbah, a gorge or a medina. Finally, you arrive before sunset and enjoy dinner where you sleep. On the guided days and the free days, the pace is even slower.

2 Weeks in Morocco with Children

Two weeks is a great length for families, because you can add rest days. For example, plan a pool afternoon in Marrakech, a beach day in Essaouira and extra stops on the long drives. Children usually love the camel trek, the sandboarding and the souks. In addition, a private driver lets you stop whenever someone needs a break. Read our guide to Morocco with kids.

Tips for 2 Weeks in Morocco

  • Book guides in three medinas: Chefchaouen, Fes and Marrakech are richer with a local guide.
  • Give the desert two nights: a camp and a hotel facing the dunes.
  • End by the sea: two nights in Essaouira are the perfect way to rest before the flight.
