Ait Bouguemez: Guide to Morocco’s Happy Valley in the High Atlas

Ait Bouguemez, nicknamed the Happy Valley, is a green high valley in the central High Atlas, about 5 hours from Marrakech. Earthen villages, terraced fields and walnut trees make it one of the most authentic places in Morocco, and the starting point of the M’Goun trek.

Quick answer: spend at least 2 nights to walk between villages, or start the 6-day M’Goun trek here. For shorter treks near Marrakech, see the Atlas villages trek.
